[Rimshot count-in, no fade — the whole band lands on one, then drops out except a DX7 bell and a single arcade coin bip]
[Convertible roof motor whirrs down. Fretless bass walks a four-bar figure. Rain on a parked hood, tape hiss, one distant seagull]
[Palm-muted guitar chank on the two and four. Linn drum claps. Pink neon tone — a sawtooth pad that flickers in a slow pulse, like a life bar one hit from empty]
[Sixteenth arpeggio rises four steps. Snare rolls lengthen. A red-light handbell, a turn signal ticking in the gaps]
[Full band hits — brass stabs over the bassline, open hats, gated snare. Palm trees on the beat. No vocal, no shout: the horn section is the voice]
[Everything cuts to the signal's tick. Two shots, flat and close. Glass across the tarmac. Tyres break traction — the mix lurches a semitone up]
[Build: wanted level, star four]
[Four rising stingers, one per bar, each a fourth higher. Sirens widen from mono to full stereo. Scanner static, clipped radio chatter under the arpeggio. A heavy door slams shut somewhere and the reverb swallows it]
[Same progression, octave up. Shredded guitar lead takes the brass line. Siren doppler sweeps across the stereo field on every fourth bar. Helicopter rotor folded into the kick pattern]
[Drums fall away. Tyres leave asphalt for sand — the snap goes soft. Bass alone, half tempo. Surf, two coin bips, the pink pad gone grey]
[Coda: tail lights down the coast road]
[Sirens thin out behind. Bell melody returns on a single hand, slowing, slightly flat. Engine idles down. Last coin bip, then the hiss of the score board wiping itself clean. Tape stops]
